I started listening to NPR and really paying attention to world news. I realize that the world ended about ten years ago and that this is the downturn before the real collapse.
China is still ramping up their oil consumption and won't abate for many years. The profitability of oil production is too high to stop and all this talk of "green" fuels is too little, too late.
The oceans will not sustain manking in fifty years and will take too long to replenish themselves. The world water engine (the Correollus Effect) will shift if enough fresh water hits it and that shoe is about to drop within the next 25 years.
Humanity has, perhaps, another two generations before everything we know will be destroyed. Everyone gets thrown back into the Bronze Age.
I realize now that loving one another and enjoying life to the fullest is all we can do. Those bottles we're recycling (most of which go straight into the garbage heap along with everything else) aren't doing anybody any real good. Not so long as people are still driving Hummers with their windows up and their AC's blasting.

Ultimately, I define my own reality. Although there are physical things I don't have control over, what they mean in my life and how my reality is structured are entirely manifestations of my own consciousness and energy.
