What are your personal opinions about adding a floating tremelo (not bigsby) bridge to my telecaster?

I owned a Yamaha Strat copy and other guitars with tremolos
and I always removed the handles to the "whammy bars".
I used my fret hand for the tremolo effect.
It never felt comfortable to me to take my pick hand away from the strings to engage the tremolo.
