There is nothing wrong with having a cup of java when you are pregnant, just don't have more than one a day (and match it with a glass of water because it can cause slight dehydration). Hot chocolate mixes are packed with sugar and you are probably better off with coffee (try decafe, still has caffeine just in less amounts, which might satisfy your craving and give you a little caffeine boost). Coffee also has antioxidents like chocolate, but they are said to be in much larger amounts.
Also coffee (decaf of otherwise) can help with headaches and backaches. Just don't over do it (one cup max).
Enjoy.

Well, I would think that maybe the hot chocolate would be better. Since, it does have milk in it as well as antioxidants from the chocolate and it does have a little less caffine than coffee.... However, I think you can enjoy both in moderation.. Drink Iced tea instead of coffee and green tea is also good and it has less caffine.. Or is it the caffine you crave? I would also drink more water if I was drinking caffinated drinks...

There is caffeine in chocolate as well. But I don't think the level is as high. Also, when you drink coffee, do you sweeten it? There may be more sugar in the hot chocolate.
But, since the levels of caffeine in chocolate are much lower than in coffee, I think you're probably better off with the hot chocolate.

Chocolate is better than coffee - I think cocoa contains a different kind of stimulant (not cafeine) which is easier on your body. It is not diuretic, is easier on the heart and blood vessels and has better long-term effect as a whole. Malt is what beer is made of. Beer yeast is a very nutritious substance, packed with vitamins, but you can gain a lot of weight on it. I would say malt drinks are okay, if they don't contain alcohol.

I'd avoid those extra calories and sugar if I was you. Pregnancy is a time of changes. Time to change from coffee and sugary treats to things your body needs to grow your precious baby. Remember, you are feeding your baby too, not just yourself. Take one for the team, momma!
