I got a passport in 1989 which was expired in 1994 & which I had not used. At that time I was in service but I gave my profession as Business , now I had to renew the same with profession as service. what should I do ? should I apply for new one or renew the same with profession as service as I had to go on a official visit?

It common sense that a person who is in business can join a service & vice versa anytime, this change of profession can occur anytime even after 1994 when your first passport expired, so even if you motioned business in your original first passport you get a new passport mentioning your new profession as service & even place some documentary evidence regarding this along with the new passport application as now you in any case has to apply for new passport. In my first passport I had given Delhi address as my permanent address but now since I shifted to Gurgaon in my second new passport I gave new address of Gurgaon & attached a copy of the ration card with the application form even though my old passport details were also mentioned in the new passport application form but no objection were raised & I got my second passport with my new permanent address of Gurgaon.

Don't worry about it. It is immaterial. Because you already have a passport, you do not apply for a new one.
