I'd say genetics plays the biggest role, then environment (mainly from childhood environment). People face problems every day, but they react in different ways based upon their genetic tolerance levels. Also, how often someone was exposed to a particular problem. Being exposed to problems in childhood affects someone a lot more because the child is more open to psycho-emotional attacks (weaker defenses).

Another factor in being mean that most people don't realize is the food they eat. It can disrupt your body's chemistry. Same goes for other outside influences like music even. Heavy Metal makes people more aggressive than say, elevator music. Literature people read etc. - basically media.

I'd say you are trying to figure out how to fix someone's meanness. My biggest advice to you is to educate yourself by reading a lot of philosophy, religion, ethics, learning, talking it out. The more you read about these subjects, the more you'll realize that being mean is the gateway to self-destruction. When you're smart, you can also deflect meanness attacks. People generally attack by words, physical harm, manipulation, and spiritual attack (like voodoo). You read up on this stuff, you do the right things in your life, and you can deflect anyone's meanness.

hmm..lets see.a person turns mean when he is human.in short every person is overcome by situations when he is forced by his own self to be mean.a person is not naturally mean or polite.his circumstances make him that or some of the bitter times.there might have been times when i or u have been mean..if u said no..then i'm sorry u r lying.in short it's just our attitude which makes us.

You'll never understand him, Tania. It's time to get out of that situation and find yourself a new friend.
