I've heard that South is good, I like indie/rockish music. Does anyone know? Any other good places apart from Jilly's?

Big Hands, next to Whitworth Park Halls of Residence on Oxford Road.

There's also The Manchester Academy which has regular gigs. And Music Box (Oxford Road, near the Palace).
