Why are baseball players always chewing, and spitting?

It sure looks gross on TV seeing the players hock up goobers. It'd sure get messy on a basketball court if basketball players thought they had to spit every other minute. I wonder why the baseball pros think they need to show their lack of ethics. Well, at least they don't scratch their ***** anymore at the plate.

Baseball player don't wear cups and it isn't dusty on the playing field unless there's a tornado blowing.

With the amount of dust and such in the air at baseball games, the mouth and throat get dried out. The spitting is a mechanism to remove contaminants from the mouth and throat.

In regards to their chewing, if they chew tobacco, it gets very juicey and you don't want to swallow it, because of the taste.And in all fairness to the players,they don't know where the camera's looking. If they chew glue, like that BIG LEAGUE CHEW stuff, they put the whole bag in their mouth at once.

how is spitting unethical? lack of manners, sure, unnethical, uhh no. baseball can be a long game, sometimes boring, especially for kids. when youre a kid playing baseball you can chew gum, not in basketball. it turns into a habit.
