I love ING Orange Savings Account. . www.ing.com

If you've got a friend who has an account and get them to recommend you, you get a $25 BONUS for an initial deposit of certain size. (I think it's like $100). Your friend gets, a cash bonus (I think $10?), too. I love them. BEST interest rates. Over 4%. Had an account with them for years. No min. Balance. No fees.

Listen to the first answer you got about ING. They are great. Unless they've changed the rules, there was not a minimum deposit to get the $25 sign up bonus. The interest is GREAT for a basic savings account. You'll never earn that much in a traditional bank savings. I know....I've been in banking for over ten years!

www.gmacbank.com
www.hsbcdirect.com
www.ingdirect.com

All three are good. All are FDIC insured. I like GMACBank the best. Always better rates than ING and more services (ATM card (with fee refunds)), Checks & the best electronic transfer service.

Good luck!

I concur with Common Sense - HSBC, ING Direct, and GMAC.

A helpful site is www.bankrate.com. You can check rates and ratings and find advice.
