Report it to a store employee immediately. Shoplifters cost the rest of us when prices are increased to cover losses and the cost of security.

That happened once when i was shopping with my dad, we were in a department store and saw a few young men take some perfumes from a counter where there wasn't any staff. They put it into a bag and as they ran out put the bags over their heads to avoid the security things going off. We informed the manager.

I'd duck behind the next aisle pretending to hide but making sure they saw me. Then I'd talk into my sleeve and say 10-4 and 'perp' and 'suspect' a lot. Shopping can be fun!

Although once I saw a kid trying to stuff batteries in his coat. I told him if I saw him, then someone else probably did, too. I told him it wasn't worth it, gave him ten dollars and then told them to go pay for it. I don't know what made me do that, I was just in a strange mood I guess.

i had a bad experience with this question
i was in dubai late last year.went to this really huge and famous mall that looks really grand and rich.everything was either in gold and also more gold...i dare not touch anything and basically just walking around.somehow from around the corner of my eye ,i noticed one particular lady was acting funnily and looks like she was putting things in her bag...she kept on looking over her shoulders...i quickly went to the information counter and told them of what i saw.two security guards and also the floor manager came with me.they caught the lady but the surprise was on me!the lady actually works for the mall and she was actually trying to quietly put back some display ornaments that was supposed to be arranged earlier...she was scared that her boss would find out and fire her for not doing her job...i did not help her.i got her in deeper problem...so the next time i just happen to see someone do something like that...sadly to say...i'd probably run the opposite way...

That actually happened to me. I had a small camera in my pocket and I took there picture. Was two teen age boys. They hurried out of the store. They left what they were going to take. Because nothing was actually taken when I had the film developed I just tossed to pic.

Notify the security team and attempt to track the individual until they are caught. Shoplifting is a crime no matter where you do it, and being in the security field, I don't tolerate it.

Probably just watch, with all the anti-shoplifting devices in use these days, there is about a 99.5% chance that they are going to get caught.

Wait until he/she got busted then I would load my bag with a whole bunch of sh*t when no ones looking and run like crazy.

Well sometimes you have to keep your eye on the employee more. I know I never got caught working at well that doesn't matter, but the point is uh...never mined.

Mention it to one of the clerks, since us honest people are the ones who end up paying for it.

Wait till they got outside, take their photo with a camera phone and demand they split the loot.
