~Twinkle.. We do not "realize that earth is flat" because it is NOT flat, it's round. There is no end, it's ROUND.~

An ant walking on a globe would think it were flat. It's because the Earth is so big that we cannot notice the curvature of the ground, which at our scale is masked by geological formations such as hills, mountains and valleys.

But we can see the curvature, especially at sea. The horizon is the edge of our sight, because the rest of the Earth has curved around and we cannot see it. If the Earth was flat then we could see it stretch on indefinitely, or rather the distance of atmospheric visibility (which is dependent on local pollution levels).

If we could easily notice and consciously experience the curvature of the Earth, it would be very small indeed, no more than a few miles in diameter.

We are very small in comparision to the gigantic Earth, everywhere we see on a horizon is a straight line. If you zoom out from this Earth you would see clearly that the Earth is round along with every other heavenly body, even the moon, as see use to see it in the night.

All astronomical pictures given to us from the space work, all confirm that the Earth is not flat but round. In the reverse, if you happen to be on the moon, and you fly gradually to the Earth (all things being equal) you would eventually land on the earth that seems to be flat in our eyes.

The earth is round not flat , we feel it is flat due to our immediate visibility.

We do not get to find the end point because it doesn't have any.
Look at a ball or any spherical thing....can you find its end points???
We realize that earth is flat because we see a very small part of the earth. The earth is so large that at a time you can just see a very small part which appears to be flat.

Hope this helps.

Well simple prespective we thought the earth was flat because clearly you couldn't assume it was round from their point of view so they went for the obvious (the earth is flat)

Simply said, it's way too big for us to really notice the curve.

The changes are so little over a great distance that it almost seems like it is flat.

It is because earth's curvature is very small. For a distance of 1000m the height difference would be about 8 cm from a horizontal plane (the formula is (D^2)/2R, R=6371000 m, D is horizontal distance). so it is quite small

Because of the scale of the earth. If you put your fingertip on a marble, you could feel the curve of the marble to a large degree, but if you put your finger on a soccer ball, you would feel it less.

*sigh* there is no end point, it is round.
because you are so small, it looks flat to you, but that is like an ant at a landfill saying the world is made of garbage.

because we're so small it appears all our surroundings is flat say for example if an ant was crawling on a giant balloon, its surrounding would appear flat
