I have been on the birth-control pill (mycrogynon 30) for 6 months and have never had a problem with it, but this past couple of weeks i have had a bit of break-through bleeding (started off really light and has got slightly heavier - but nothing like an actual period). My period is not due for over a week.

Is it normal to be fine then to have an effect after 6 months?

I have ran 2 packs together without taking the weeks break, but i can't see how this has caused the bleeding as i have always done this... i usually do 2 packs then take a break, then 2 more packs then take a break again, etc.

So what do you think? Is there a chance that i could be pregnant (although the bleeding has lasted for 2 weeks now)?

Yes, it can occur that breakthrough bleeding occurs after 6 months of using the birth control pill. It is especially common for a lot of women (myself included) to have a hard time with taking the pill packages back to back and not using that last week of pills. The reason is because the body is so used to having a period and when it is forced to do this for medical reasons like in my case it reacts and wants to try and have a period so henceforth the breakthrough bleeding.

I would recommend getting in touch with your dr to let them know what's going on so that they can evaluate the situation a bit further.

I don't understand why people think its ok to skip the placebo week.

Skipping that week like you have been doing is why you are getting the breakthrough bleeding.

There is always a chance you could be pregnant if you are having sex. Pills are not 100% effective, especially if you aren't taking them as prescribed.
