I don't know if you'll get this before your surgery, but I had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis in 1998. The surgery I had was pretty major. They went in anteriorly (through my side), removing a rib which they later used to replace 4 discs they removed. I was in the hospital for 6 days, 3 of which in ICU. I'm not going to lie, it was painful. But, to my understanding, the same surgery now is done with four pinholes in your back and its an outpatient procedure. which will be a whole lot less painful. I remember one of the worst parts was the tube up your nose and down your throat when you first wake up. And I would assume you will probably have to wear a brace for a certain period of time afterwards. Follow all the instructions for the brace, and always wear it when you're supposed to. Its very important for your back and spine to heal properly. And you will probably have muscle pain in your back from where your muscles are getting used to your spine being in a different position. Good luck, hope this helps!

I've not had the surgery you are having done but wanted to send a reply saying I wish you well with your procedure and a quick recovery.
