What is your worst buffet experience?

It was at a Barnhill's in Alabama. I went there with my husband while he was on leave from Afghanistan and when we entered the building, we noticed a musty smell but it wasn't too bad so we went looking for a booth to seat ourselves in and the only boothes available were ones in the back section, we get there to be seated next to an area that was blocked off due to the carpet being soaked with water and the roof caved in but not exposing the outside. The smell was horrible and there were mold spots on the wall. We ATTEMPTED to try to eat but the smell was unbearable so I called the manager up front. I told him I wanted a refund and he only wanted to partly refund it until a line had formed behind me of other customers who could not tolerate the smell or the unsanitary conditions. They were shut down a week later but soon reopened. I'm sure they fixed it but I will NEVER go back.

Not sure this is a worst experience but it really made me think.
I was at a buffet place and no one was at the register to take my money. I looked at the patrons and noticed nearly everyone was overweight, two of them were having trouble walking.
I left and went to another place and had a salad. I also need to lose weight and realized I was on a path the lead to no good.

Really nothing compared to other answerers. Bonanza was the worst for me though. The hot food was way overcooked, hadn't been flipped into a new pan so all you could do was scrape the burnt parts. The salads and toppings were all shelled out too and there were other salads or toppings dropped there. Nobody ever bothered to wipe anything. There was syrup and sprinkles and nuts all over the soft serve ice cream table. And it's not like this was right before close! I haven't been back in about 10 years.

At a company Christmas dinner many years ago.
The Human resources department appropriated all of the tables, so the rest of the company and their guests had to eat standing.
The hotel ran out of full sized dinner plates so we all ate off of salad plates.
Also, the hotel overbooked so there were no rooms available.
I can't recall what the food was like, I was so miserable standing in high heels, trying to balance a drink in one hand and a hot (straight from the dishwasher) plate in the other!

All of them. I've never been to a buffet without being coerced by someone else. I'm amazed at the gluttony and it's a huge waste of money for me as I weigh less than 100lbs and have absolutely no desire to stuff myself till I can't walk and it appals me to watch anyone else do that. People are literally starving to death in this world and big fat slobs are sitting around stuffing themselves with macaroni salad, meatloaf, fried chicken and jello salad. Let us not forget the chocolate cake, pudding and ice cream machine. I've seen one person eat enough in one sitting to feed a 3rd world family for a month.

I was at a buffet and seated near the back of the restaurant and someone puked across 3 tables and did it as they were trying to get past me to the exit door. OMG!

Worst or not it was definitely silly. Tortured myself with raw fish in a strictly official lunch buuffet lunch during a orientation programme in Tokyo when after i finished my meal I saw there was chicken too which is what I usually have.

Every buffet is disgusting. If I'm going out to eat, I am not getting up to get my food, someone better bring me that ****. :)

chinese buffets, the really fat people who go there and eat like 10 plates of food. its so gross

Chinese buffet..... food poisoning.... had it coming out of BOTH ends all night long!!!
