Good for you... Congrads on graduation... And the choice of going to college is one you will never regret. With that said, it is an exciting time you will have ahead. New friends, new experiances, growth in learning and getting to know yourself. With that said, let's answer your question.
I would recommend a couple of things. Each college has a student union. The student union plans low costs events for students. Everything from dances, bbqs, movie nights, rafting trips, overnight camping, etc. They can also let you know of clubs, the greek system, and other organizations on campus which might interest you. Usually, there are a couple of junior or senior students who work at the desk that can provide you with information.
If you live in the dorms you will easily meet friends as events are planned by the resident advisors.
If you have not purchased one already buy a college catalog. you can buy it online or through the campus bookstore. The college catalog outlines all the majors, classes, campus programs, campus organizations, etc. Read it, it is your guide book... It will have maps of the campus so you can find your classes etc. You will also need to buy a semester schedule so that you can register for your classes.
It would be advisable to go to campus sometime during the summer and see a councilor so you can ask about classes, and your other concerns... They are there to help you. Keep in mind you are paying a ton of money for college. Get all you can out of it. Don't just go to class...
In college you will meet people that will be your friends for a lifetime... Enjoy the experiance as this will be the best time of your life and you will really get to know yourself and grow as a person...
Have fun and work hard...

It will not be as difficult as you think. Actually it reminded me of high school, without all of the childish drama. You will be expected to want to learn, since you are paying for the education, and because it is the key to your future. It does require more hard work. You will not get the special treatment or push that a high school teacher might give.
There will be plenty of functions available to meet other students. Find some organizations or clubs that you are interested in. There you will meet other people that have something in common with you. Also, check out the coffee shops and food courts for opportunities to meet others.
It won't be long before you will be strutting around like you own the place. Good Luck! You will love it!!

It's perfectly natural to be scared (I assume that's what you meant and not scarred). This is a big change, but it's also one of the most exciting times of your life. Just relax, join some clubs that interest you and remember that you're not the only one who feels this way. There will be plenty of other students who are going through this for the first time, too. Get to them; you will automatically have something in common with them.

Just be yourself. Everyone will like you if you act like yourself. If you try to act like something you're not people won't like you.
