I'm not going to try to prove anything. Instead I'll tell the child that no one can really prove God's existence but you can still believe if you want to. It's not a law to believe in God but God can be anything to you from a star to your parents. God can be anything or anyone that gives you hope. God is abstract; He/She is a part of yourself and by finding the light in yourself you'll know where God is! You don't have to be religious and pray a zillion times a day to find what or who God is, but you should try to dig out all the good in you and be the best person you can be, because that would be the reward for your creator whoever He/She is! Thank you:-)
Great question!

I would never attempt to prove something that cannot be proved. A child should be given every opportunity to have an open mind from a very young age. When the question of god comes along, I would explain some of the natural occurences of the universe, and the different beliefs which people in our world hold. To force a belief in religion or a higher power on a child is to take from them our greatest assets as humans: questioning, discovering and deciding for one's self a belief system.

The same way you proved Santa's existence. Don't sweat it, mate. Kids are pretty easy to fool. Now if you asked me how you would prove God's existence to Richard Dawkins, I would admit you would have given me a real poser. But proving it to a kid? Peanuts! How about these:
1. See that church. That's God's house, where He lives. Now, if He’s not here, how come HIS house is? I mean, DOH!!
2. You know how Daddy sometimes yells at Mummy when he’s angry and Mummy is being really bad? Well, when God gets angry, that’s the lightening and thunder. And the rain is Mummy crying. And the wind is Mummy throwing plates at him.
3. See how you made that mud pie? Well the world is like a very big mud pie. Who made it? Well, it had to be someone, didn’t it? And that someone was God, except God didn’t get that mud all over his trousers and shirt and face, and have to have a bath straight away.
There’s a million of them. And the interesting thing is that most such answers will do most grown-up folk too, so it is unlikely your kid will ever need anything more substantial that this.

It can't be done. I may as well try to prove that goblins exist, or unicorns, or the fairies at the bottom of the garden.
Why would I lie to a child? If I spread disinformation about this supposed god, how could the child ever trust anything I told him or her again? How wrong is that, to encourage an innocent into delusion?

God can not be PROVEN from one person to another, regardless of their age. Neither can one PROVE that God does not EXIST. God must be personally experienced by the individual to be believed. Live your life as a demonstration of God's EXISTENCE. Living out the Grace, Love, & Peace of God in your own life will show the CHILD there really is something to this God thing. To children actions speak much louder than words. But also talk about your faith and how you percieve God's working/presence in your life... not just with the child; but with friends, family, other adults; so the child sees this and knows you really believe this too and aren't just telling them about a Santa character.
Too many people lose their faith because God doesn't fit in the box they were taught God should be in, and too many people who claim to believe in God don't live any differently than those who don't. I believe that anyone who is able to suspend their own judgements about religions, gods, spirituallity, etc... and truely seek God themselves and allow God to just be God and not fit into any Box... I believe that GOD will PROVE God's own EXISTENCE to them.
Short answer: Encourage the Child to seek God for his/her self. Through their own Faith God will Prove God's Existence to them.

That's an important question! And a tough one too. Well they can accept that they can't see or hear Him, since He's way up there in Heaven. And although no one can see Him, they should be told that He sees and listens to everyone. And He loves everyone, especially children and people who are good. And we could tell them the story of Prophet Moses when he asked God to show Himself, the mountains crumbled. Tell them only when we pass on to the next life, we have a chance of meeting God. And for that, we need to be good people. Tell them that when we ask God for something, He always listens, and He'll grant us our wish if He believes it's for everyone's good, and when He thinks the time is right. Tell them that we were all created by God, and the story of Adam and Eve - that if people are good they will come back to the heaven where Adam and Eve used to be. Tell them like how we create and design things that are not living (such as the drawings they draw, or a table/chair for instance), God designs the thing that are alive, such as us, animals, plants, as well as the rivers, oceans, land, mountains, trees, the sun, the moon and all the beautiful things found in nature. Even if man tried, he couldn't design anything like God's creation.
Hmm, like I said, it's tough! But kids generally believe what they're told.

I wouldn't. I'd show that child the wonders of the world in our garden, and speak of Charles Darwin, and evolution, and the relationships between all things. Why would I deprive a child such wonders? For fantasy and entertainments that can teach great lessons I'd give that child all the stories ever written in the world - religious or not. But I wouldn't confuse any child with ideas of a supernatural reality, or external authority on demand alone.

Just as believers are Gods children. God says FAITH is what proves HIS existence. Not logic. Not an explanation. The best thing to teach a child is to BELIEVE in God with their heart. Teach a child that he/she must believe, and then they will see. And that God will truly honor that faith.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Well, of course, you can't PROVE God's existence to a child or an adult or anyone in between. But ask him/her to "prove" that there is "love" for you or someone you know they "love". Whatever they do argue with it. If they hug you, say, "I could hug a tree, would that REALLY mean that I love it?" God's existence, like "love", is a matter of faith. A person to whom you are dedicated can say that they love you, but believing it is just a matter of blind faith based on observation of their apparent behavior. There is no imperical way to prove that love, or honor, or hope, or God "exisits" in a scientific physical universe.

No...cold is simply what we have called the lack of warmth.
But...has mummy ever given you blanket or a jacket when you were cold?
........Yes.......?
Yes.
Can you prove to me the existence of darkness, child? Does it exist?
No...darkness.....what we have called the lack of light.
But...has daddy ever brought you a night light when you go to sleep at night?
Yes?
Yes.
Now...lastly....prive to me sadness young fellow. Is it somewhere in this world?
.....No...sadness is what we call the lack of happiness.
But...has someone ever made you smile when you were crying, child?

So....in all those things. What was commom...
Fulfillment. There was soemthing of fulfillment there.
So, child....dooes God exist. Is there a proof.
