I'm going to make a wild guess that since you're asking this in a "Programming" forum that you're talking about HTML.
A
will terminate a line and the next character will start on the next line.
Entering "BK" 2 times will add an additional empty line.
A
signifies a Paragraph which automatically inserts an empty line.
Although these tags will work without closing tags in HTML, it's better practice to enclose.
