No I do not believe America would elect such a man, nor will they elect Obama.

What does his religion have to do with anything? I would trust him running the country better than any of the other candidates just because he said he'd stop and think after a terrorist attack. Not all Muslims are fundamentalists and none of them are middle class. Most of the Muslims in the US believe in the American Dream and not fundamentalism.

he had a varied background but nothing considered a Muslim background. He had nominal(minimal) exposure to the religion and is not a Muslim
He apparently is active in his church So I think you are misinformed and putting too much hope into his being disqualified by having some relative who may be a Muslim It used to be a long time ago people made a huge deal about getting a catholic president-John F Kennedy. Anyway good try. Lets move on to people's politics and ideas rathe than some dumb cr,p like that

What does a person's Religion have to do with the person doing a good job?

We have a Christian in office now and he is doing a lousy job!

So I would say Religion doesn't matter...It's the issues that matter and the ability of the person being able to handle those issues!

Our current leader doesn't seem to be able to handle many of the issues facing our Nation today.

I know that many of you (Especially Republicans) will disagree and get angry with me but it's usually that way when the truth is spoken.

Honestly at this time in American history any sort of Muslim affiliation is a hurdle with the war and all. But that really isn't Obama's biggest obstacle. America is not ready to elect a black president yet. We can hedge around the issue as much as we like but it's just not that time.

I don't think someone's religion is that important, it's their stand on the issues. I haven't been paying attention to the news so I don't know his platform but I wouldn't NOT elect him just because his parents were Muslim. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who disagree though.

I don't know if America would elect him, but it looks like it is entirely possible according to current polls, that Democrats might nominate him. I am sorry, but in today's political climate, I would not trust him to be President.

America might, but not with my vote. I am not proud of this, but it is the truth. We are at war with an enemy that has attacked us over and over for years. They have said over and over that they will kill us all. I believe they will contunue to try and I just cannot vote for a man raised by Muslims.

Why not? We elected the youngest son of a big Oil family- & look where it got us! Maybe someone who was raised by Muslims- would know something about a part of the World that our current leader doesn't have a CLUE about... :)
