I understand that the sun is going to hit supernova one day. When is that day? Will the sun shoot a solar flare that hits earth and destroys it? When will the world end? I hear that the sun is do it grow larger. It will burn Mercury and then Venus. It will get very near us then hit nova which means die down to the size of normal star. The world will soon become into another ice age. It is do to do this in 29 years from now.

The Sun is about half way through its fuel. It is expected to last another 4.5 billion years or so. in about 3.5-4 billion years internal pressures will cause the sun to swell considerably. during this time the orbits of Mercury, Venus, and perhaps the earth will be inside the Sun. Long before that all of earth oceans and atmosphere will have boiled off into space due to the swelling of the sun. I do not believe that your information on the Ice age is correct. Those kind of changes happen slowly taking many hundreds of years in most cases. Not to mention the earth is currently experiencing an accelerated warming trend due to increased greenhouse gasses.

The Sun is the wrong kind of star to "hit supernova ". It will go on just like it is now for millions of years. After hundreds of millions of years, small changes will be noticed. After billions of years, it will change to a red giant star. But that is so far in the future that compared to a human lifetime it is effectively forever.

Umm. what's projected for 2013 is the photograph voltaic maximum (no longer a 'sunlight explosion'), which represents a era of the main severe photograph voltaic flare interest in a ordinary cycle. Sound frightening? bear in mind that the cycle is 11-12 years long, to that end making the photograph voltaic maximum a ordinary experience. the subsequent photograph voltaic maximum is likewise estimated to be fairly weaker than the 2001 photograph voltaic maximum. in some situations, sturdy photograph voltaic flare interest has brought about short-term interior sight means mess ups. the opportunity of being knocked returned to Victorian cases isn't even remotely attainable. your friends are gullible, scientifically illiterate human beings.

Nope. No explosion, nothing special at all. Our sun is a very normal star and nothing amazing will happen. And nothing will happen at all for at least 3 billion more years. The terms you're looking for are Red Giant (the expanding star) and White Dwarf (the imploded, small one).

Our sun is not massive enough to become a super nova, it will expand to engulf a few of the closer planets in it's death throes but not to worry, this will not happen for a few billion years.
