I almost didn't attempt to answer this question, largely because I am not a racist and to answer it borders on admitting de facto that I am one.

I would not choose to live in either Detroit or New Orleans for any number of reasons. Detroit is too cold. New Orleans too dysfunctional. These are not the only two places I would not choose to live in, however.

The presence of large numbers of black people doesn't bother me. I think both Detroit and New Orleans are charming places to visit. But I wouldn't choose to live in either one.

I was born in Chicago and wouldn't live there, either. And I think Chicago is a better town by far than Detroit. And I don't consider Chicago to be a "white place," either.

You claim we are racist yet you post a note like this.... How many places that are "white" have you lived in and how would you know if they are better or worse than Detroit or New Orleans? Have you lived everywhere? I hate to say it but the statement you have made indicates you have a very narrow scope on life. Its not about the place you live its what you do while you are there. There is more to a place than just the racial demographic.

Actually you are clearly being the racist here. Do you think cities are segregated? Cause they are not. There are black and white people that live in Detroit. There are black and white people that live in New Orleans. There are black and white people in pretty much every town in this whole country. And where exactly are these "white places" you speak of. I'm yet to go to a city in the US where everybody is white.

Umm...what? You're honestly not making any sense. Whites are in Detroit and New Orleans. What you're forgetting is New Orleans was destroyed and Detroit...is just Detroit. Maybe it is you, friend, who needs to stop being racist.

dude shut up...I am white and I live in Louisiana, and New Orleans still acts like a white city...the mardi gras fests are the exact same...primarily french cultured. I dont know where you're from, but youre logic is flawed. why dont you stop being a retarded racist...your "question" is a racist statement. You are saying that a predominantly black city is better than any other white place on earth...Well if its soo better, than why are the crime rates SKY HIGH with all the predominantly black cities??? what do you have to say now, arsshole?

Actually, places are just places. There are all kinds of people all over the US and the world. And you would be very surprised. Is was so interesting to me that I started to travel all over so that i could meet and see different towns, different culture and different people.

But in my opinion, there are two kinds Nice or Mean spirited. (Like some of the people who had great answerer's, but couldn't resist the Mean part on the end.

There is oven the National Black Cowboy Museum in Denver CO.

Been to Detroit, Great History, but you gotta admit there is a crappy part of town. There are good parts too. Other towns have good and crappy parts.

Actually I fell thru the Bell Isle Bridge long ago, then the city knocked it down to keep from being sued. But no reflection on the people. just knucklehead polititians.

I don't know what you're on, but its a bad trip. I lived in New Orleans for several years and I can tell you that it is NOT one of the "better places." If you think that makes me a racist, it doesn't speak well of your intelligence, but so be it.
