use a loofah in the shower and use a lotion with some alpha hydroxy ( AHA) in it to slough off dead skin cells, this will lessen the chances of ingrown hairs

Yep, a great remedy is a product called Tend Skin. I had a lot of ingrown hairs in my neck since I shave there a lot. This stuff works wonders. I highly recommend you give it a shot.
Here is their website:

There are special creams and washes for that. They open up your spin pores and allow your hair to "get" out and grow normally. They might be a little tricky to find though. Try to find them at your local pharmacy or drugstore. Otherwise, go to a specialty store, like the Vitamin Cottage.

there is medication for 19.99 you can search on goole for ingrown hair.
i just got mine ingrown hair taken care of by using a hot wet towel cover the spot for 3-4 times daily and after the skin soften and ingrown hair surface you can try to use sharp, clean tweeters to get it out.
the key is to make your top layer skin to soften so you can peel off and get to the ingrown hair. don't try to poke it, pop it, cut it, because that is totally not as effective and you risk your chance getting infection and ugly scar (i tried trust me it doesn't work and it's painful)
hope this helps and good luck!

you can loofah, or use a scrub in the shower, then there is a lotion called amlactin that helps a lot. you buy it at the pharmacy usually, but its not prescription. do not pick them! where loose pants till they are healed, tightness just rubs and irritates them and makes it worse

If you shave your legs, you are probably doing it in the wrong direction. You're suppose to shave with the grain, not against.

Apply hot compresses, it will soften the skin, allowing the hair to unfold out.
