What is the bright object I see tonight to the lower right of the moon? Star, planet?

Also, do you notice tonight how that object, the moon, and two stars to the upper left are all perfectly aligned...is this odd, normal?

The bright object near the moon was Venus. For some of the world they got to watch the moon pass in front of it. We missed that here in So-Cal.

The other two fairly bright points were Saturn (close to the moon) and further away was the star Regulus. Saturn and Venus are on a line in the sky called the ecliptic which represents the plane on which all the planets orbit the sun (the sun passes along this line in the sky over the course of the year). Regulus is just an ordinary star that has the distinction of lying on the ecliptic. That is just a coincidence. It is very pretty though to see all of those objects line up the way they do.

If by "Line up" you mean you could draw a line from the horizon (where the sun sets) and through the moon and the objects (planets), then it is not odd. As a matter of fact it always is the case. This line (or curve) is called the "ecliptic" and exists because all of the planets travel in the same plane around the sun.

The bright 'star' you are seeing in the 'corner' of the moon is Venus.

Venus.

Look again tomorrow night and you will see that the Moon has moved quite far in only one day. If you are like my grandmother, you will be surprised by that.

Having things line up like that is unusual, but not rare. Astronomy magazines often notify you of such nice arrangements in advance. It looks nice, but there is no cosmic significance to it.
