You would need to travel up to the border of Canada and The U.S. to see the northern lights best.Right now thru November would be be the best time to see them. Beams of light refracting in the clouds and atmosphere create the northern lights,and the angle at which the beams are shining in the earths atmosphere are optimum at the afore mentioned location.

Winter is usually a better time to see this. If you get a strong solar storm, you can actually see them in Michigan. Otherwise, go north, young man. The further north, the more likely you are to get a view (assuming the sky is clear).

I have seen the northern lights many times in Michigan.You may have to go into the country areas, away from bright city lights.I have seen them in the summer and in the fall.
