When did it become OK to go around talking about your personal political beliefs if you are a liberal but Not OK if you are conservative?
Are we just too polite to tell them - please don't talk like that around me, I don't want to hear your political beliefs, I have my own and I would rather not talk about it?
Why is this one sided bashing ok in America?

This is a forum for political dialog, I don't feel the workplace or the grocery store are.
Generally when they start going on about the war for instance I give them an icy stare and say I have two nephews in Iraq and I support their mission and then I walk away. But that is only after they start bashing.
I get along great with all the liberals at work we agree to disagree, but I really don't want to hear about it on a daily basis.
It gets really old.

It's not DEBATE - it's one sided if the two people did not engage each other in a question or a discussion or you did not choose to debate them.
One CHOOSES or DOES NOT choose to listen to those shows - Personally I do not listen to them.
But that is a choice .
You all CHOSE to answer this so this is a debate!!!
What I was talking about was people talking at you when you were not even talking to them.
Maybe I should just do the LA LA LA LA LA I'm not listening to you thing and they would get the point.

Well when someone tells an untruth about you ( I dont mean you specifically but in general ) and you dont speak up and call them on it then it will continue. and that goes for both sides, although libs are typically alot more vocal.

Im not sure what you are talking about when you say "bashing." Particularly when you mention you have 2 nephews in Iraq. How do the two relate? Please provide specifics as how the two relate, otherwise it appears you are using your nephew's military service to bolster your debating position...which is pretty much not cool.

In case you didnt notice, a lot of clear channel and CBS employees were fired and censured for speaking out against the Bush administration during the course of the last election. Others have been routinely shouted down, being called "traitors" and "communists", which some talking heads have linked to the new "dirty" words: "libs" and "dems". After close to 8 years of being told about WMD's that dont exist, trillions of dollars spent to destablize an already shaky part of the world, billions of dollars in equipment and weapons being "lost" in Iraq or unaccounted for, Osama still on the loose with the trail cold for years, most of the restrictions against dumping pollutants into our air and water repealed, nutwings like Coulter calling a Democratic candidate a "fa****", writing into law for the first time in the history of our nation hate legislation, sky-high gasoline prices, American citizens being arrested and held without being charged with a crime for years at a time...etc etc, then being told to shut up and move to Canada or Russia or threatened with violence...well...I think people just got tired of it.

So if you feel like you are being forced to listen to the other side against your will....welcome to the club!

Now, maybe we can all stop the hate and work towards finding some common ground to work towards?

Interesting comment and it couldn't be further from the truth. Cons have created a lib bashing network called FN and it runs 24/7 filling the airwave with hatred, outright lies and deception. And just to make sure Americans get their daily dose of lib bashing when the tv isn't on, there's Limbaugh on the radio so you can get it in your car as well. Time to wake up princess, and unplug the other ear.

I guess it's sometime when Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilley, Fox News, and the neocons were allowed to fiercely and unabashedly bash dreaded "liberals" and Clinton 24/7. I'm no Clinton fan, but PUHLEEZ--the hypocrisy!!! NOW Clinton looks like a SAINT in comparison!

I'm amazed that you think it's up to you to "let" them or not "let" them. They are obviously using their freedom of speech and if you feel you are too refined to open your mouth and express either your discomfort or your objections it sure isn't their fault. Don't blame someone else for your own lack of expression just because they don't suffer from the same thing. You're just too precious or polite to express your opinions? It sounds more like a cop out than anything else and then you want to blame them for your lack of gumption. Sorry, it just doesn't fly.

Its perfectly OK for anyone to go around talking about their political beliefs. But--cons have NO CHOICE about letting liberals criticize them as much as we want--because that's OUR right of free speech.

Your right to speak does not grant you immunity from criticism--and the fact that you have to take the heat is NOT a violation of your free speech.
