Yes - almost. Many politicians start their career full of ideals and integrity, but to become successful as a politician, you have to cut many, many deals with those currently in power. Since this is often at odds with he peoople you're supposed to be representing, your success depends on how well you can hide this from the voters. As a result, the worst person to have as President is whoever the party nominates - after all, imagine how many deals he'd have to make, just to be nominated!

No. Many politicians are good, hardworking, honest people. The thing is, that kind of story just doesn't sell papers. The media focuses on the few bad ones and blows it out of all proportion.

No, because they are some honest politicians. Might not be many but there are.

No. They exist, and I know a couple personally (at the township/village level, I think it's easier for honest people to get elected).

One whom I don't know personally but strikes me as honest to the point of damaging his campaign rather than tell an untruth is Ron Paul.

Of course it is! Can't tell the truth and still get that campaign money! If someone didn't want you do hide something, why would they offer you money in the first place?
