well my biggest motivator to do hw and stuff is MUSIC.
some ppl cant concentrate when music is on, but i think it really motivates u to do ur work.
cuzz like music lightens ur mood.
and when ur mood goes up, u feel like doing stuff more.

Do 30 minutes of work, then get 30 minutes of play-time. Find something you really like to do, and will yourself to wait for it until you are done.
Also...
By practicing for mastery, you will (hopefully) have a better understanding of the concepts being taught.
Just think of how great you will feel going into a test and knowing how to get the right answers. Think about how smart and empowered you will feel!
By doing your assignments, you will be subjected to the same type of problem using different combinations. This will infuse in you an understanding of the concept, so you can correctly answer any problem from that domain.
Practice makes it easier!
P.S. Why do you have math assignments during the holidays?

Tell yourself for that every certain amount of problems you do, you will reward yourself with doing something fun.
If you get invited to do something, make sure you do some mah problems first. =]
