Haha so I just finished season 3.

I thought they made it pretty clear that it wasn't Locke's dad, just some chump who needed a kidney? But Locke kept calling him "dad" and everyone referred to him as Locke's dad, so was he? Did I just misunderstand?

Yes, that was his Dad. Wasn't he a peach? He played Locke for a chump though, taking him for his kidney and then ditching him. All in all, I think this character was the most heartless I've ever seen on Lost (and there have been some doozies). As you watch the show doesn't it ever strike you that there are so many negative father portrayals? Sun's father, Penelope's father, Hurley's father abandoned him, jack's father, Kate's father...the list goes on and on.

Yeah that was definatly his dad. He's a con man though. He conned Locke into giving him one by acting like he wanted to get back into his life, and Locke felt obligated to give him one cause it's his dad who he believed really loved him. Then he left, cause hes a con.

Ya, you mis-interpreted that. That's his father. I thought that was cool that Sawyer handled that situation.
