I'm not sure
I think it's b/c as soon as we pass the high school level no one really plays soccer
It'll grow and it'll be a major sport soon

That has been a question no one has ever been ever to answer for years. In the 80s, with all the kids playing soccer, it was touted that soccer will become a big sport, never happened. Wold Cup 94 came and sparked some interest, but didnt spark alot of huge interest. I think there are many reasons, and factors. The biggest one is the US doesnt fare on the World Stage, they are big players in Concacaf, but against Europeans they are still being laughed at. Secondly, there isnt alot of scoring, so Americans find it boring to watch, even in the NFL, a 6-3 game is tabbed as boring, and people turn the game off. And lastly, Soccer has to compete against established leagues with lots of history behind them, that pretty much take all of the year up. So to many people there are to many sports to follow already. I think even if the USA wins the World Cup, it would generate some hype, but it would die down as soon as NFL season started. The best way, is to get big name players over here, and start playing. David Beckham is a good start. LA is pretty buzzed about that. In fact I may make a Galaxy game this year.

"after a certain age kids lose interest in it, and play other sports."
That certain age is always moving up. More and more kids and teenagers are staying with soccer every year and staying with it longer. Every year MLS has better and bigger talent-pool to draft from. You'll see this trend continue as we continue to have a league that kids can dream of playing in someday.
Soccer was basically dead even 15 years ago as there was no professional league here and the US national team struggled to even qualify for the world cup. So it's understandable that kids would want to stop playing a sport that, at the time, seemed to have no future. Things are much different now and it will be that much different in another 15 years.

There is portential for the growth of soccer in the USA. One it is very cheap to buy its equipment, organize it unlike traditional American football. Two, there is room for everyone to play in a soccer match and that is an incentive. Three, it is international and America will be keep themselves out of this great game if they do not join it. As they want to control the world in lots of fields, soccer is one sure game where they could also shine. The draw back is that with their large population, the selection of players is a big task. However, if they are determined as Brazil, Mexico, etc, there is a time when the USA may some day win the world cup.

man i love baseball too(Go Jays!!!). Soccer is slow paced and not enough 'magic'. Other sports are more advertised and there are bigger opportunities to play other sports and get better at them. Soccer i will say is a beautiful game and sometimes can bring tears to my eyes in an emotinaly intense game. To make it popular, you need to arouse the passion in their heart like any other sport..and bringing big name foreign players to play is the best way to do it.

Beacause baseball and football games are more advertised then soccor games. If kids are sports fans, and they watch advertised games, they pick who they want to be on who they watch, so soccer becomes less popular as people get older.

if the American people realized that if soccer becomes their Major Sport and if they loved it like the rest of the world does; they will be the greatest undefeatable team of all time!!!
I hate the fact that there's some people in the US thinking that there's any sport better than Soccer (or football as it should be called)...
I also hate the fact that some people think the olympics is bigger and more important than soccer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*CAN YOU BELIEVE IT*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
