2/3x + 1/4 = - 1/3 x - 2/9

2x/3 +1x/3 = -2/9-1/4

3x/3 =[ -8 - 9] /36

x = -17/36

I assume you mean:

(2/3)x + 1/4 = - (1/3)x - 2/9
x = -2/9 - 1/4
x = (-2*4 - 1*9)/(9*4) = -17/36
