I'm talking about Brenda Lee! Even though she might've been considered early R&R, she was just as much country too! Since she never had a movie made about her like Patsy Cline or Loretta Lynn, she's been too easily overlooked! Have you heard her song "Too Many Rivers" or "All Alone Am I", or "Fool #1" or "As Usual" or "Coming On Strong" or "Break It To Me Gently"? This woman deserves to be remembered too, right along with Loretta, Patsy, Kitty, and Dolly!

I agree with you!!!!! Brenda Lee has a wonderful voice that is so sexy and throaty - like Patsy Cline and Etta James.
I love all of the songs that you mentioned. I love to listen to her. I got a CD of her songs not too long ago and really enjoy them!!!!!

I don't think she should even be called "country". I have been a country fan all my life and back in the 50"s she was interviewed by country song book and she was asked if she ever sang with Hank Williams and she said no. She said " I am not country and I would never do country" but she lied as I can remember her being introduced by Hank and she was about 10 years old. She sat up on a fence rail and sang a song with him. She is phony and not at all in the same class as Loretta, Patsy,Kitty and Dolly. Why do you think she has never appeared with them? It is because she thinks that she is too good for country people. Now give me hell -- ha ha

I guess she was considered one of the earliest cross over singers. She is pretty darn country to me though. I remember watching her on Ed Sullivan when I was a pre-teen and she was probably 11 or 12 as well. She was then and is now truly "Little Miss Dynamite"
