I've tried them all. Patch, inhaler things, cold turkey.
gum I thought of checking in to that laser treatment where they
do this deal with your ear,but my sister in law tried it and it didn't work. Any suggestions don't tell me about really wanting it. Nobody wants it more than I do. Help me breath.

Quitting smoking is a lot of work, but definitely worth it in the end. At the substance abuse center I have worked in, we focus on triggers. Make a list of what triggers you to want a cigarette & then list what you can do when you feel those triggers. For example, when you're stressed you crave a cigarette but maybe you could go for a walk or watch your favorite movie. You could also try the patch or gum again and work hard to stick with it. Plus remind yourself of all the health benefits of quitting! There is a new medicine called Chantix which helps. It works by making you not feel any pleasure from smoking; however, this can backfire. There have been numerous studies showing the participants smoked more because they were seeking that pleasure. But it might work for you, if it's something you're interested in talk to your healthcare provider! Good luck!

Here's a great website with some good info-

Well I got lucky. My doctor told me I had a heart problem but that it only required watching. He also said since I smoked that when I did need an operation somewhere down the line I could have substantial problems and because I smoked it could kill me. I took my cigarettes and threw then in the trash. I also had a hysterectomy so my hormones were screaming and then my bf turned out to be a creep and so I broke up with him. Oh I forgot the meds this one stupid doctor put me on that made me want to kill. It could have been a combination of all of it. What saved me was this tobacco person on the witness stand that testified and said that cigarettes were not habit forming. Oh really. I got so mad that I was so stupid. Not only was I hurting my health, but everytime I bought a pack of cigarettes I was paying his salary. As my sense of smell came back I realized how smokers smelled. You reek and don't realize it plus you taste terrible. So does your car, your hair, and your clothes. I read how each day made a difference but that it took twenty years for your body to cleanse itself of cigarettes and you could say you were a non smoker. I decided if I was going to kill myself I was going to have a much better time trying to do it. My suggestion is decide to quit and then do it. You're the only one that can make that decision. Don't moan and groan. Nobody wants to hear it. You can do it because I did it. Best suggestion: psycologically speaking when you change a behavior, you must substitute another for it. So when you stop smoking, don't start eating or throwing fattening things in your mouth. You will gain weight. Every once in a while I find myself digging through the bottom of my purse-without thinking. When I realize I was digging for my cigarettes, it makes me mad again. So there's more to beat than the nicotine. I quit smoking in 1985 and still I dig. Perhaps if you tuck that $3/pack away for something you want but can't afford, you can reward yourself later. It will give you a goal to work for. These are all mind games and that's what you're really up against-yourself. Lots of luck.

Call the Quitline and join a Quit Smoking Clinic.

A Yahoo search for "quit smoking clinics" will tell you much more.
