The founding fathers meant "property" when they said "the pursuit of happiness." And money buys property. In the Bible, it's the LOVE of money that's the root of all evil. Money is just a standard of value, with no intrinsic good or bad. The evil emerges when money is loved too well and pursued too vigorously.

Great question--that one earned you a star.
Okay, people with money can have, more or less, anything they want. If they don't help out others (individuals and/or charities), they are almost evil--at least selfish. Money can buy them the best health care--but some illnesses just cannot be cured. If you saw, "The Aviator," it shows the beginnings of billionaire Howard Hughes' serious problems.
The pursuit of happiness does not necessarily mean in material things--at least not every material thing that comes along. It meant freedom in this country that immigrants did not have in their birth countries. It meant more jobs needed to be done, so less people would starve. It meant that one wouldn't be killed from worshipping in any way he/she chose.
It probably meant having most of the things one needed--but not to the point of millionaire status.
Again, this is a great question, and I can't wait to see all the answers you get to it.

The PURSUIT of money represents the root of all evil. However, the pursuit of happiness requires a little money.
It's a double edged sword.

People do some pretty wild things for money, but what is money. Status, Economic Freedom, etc. People perceive these things to bring them happiness so they're pursued. No money in itself is like most all other things. A tool that can be used for either good or evil intentions. Good being that which we'd like to see and have exist in our world and bad being that which we do not. Money is not the root of all evil, but the drive for self at the expense of almost all else for the most part could be seen to be.

Money doesn't represent the root of all evil. Religion and Government have a say in that too

DEFINITELY NOT to evil. Money is form as a parity for exchanging goods, products and services from way back history. Human minds, if shown greed, could lead to the root of evil. If attractiveness of money draws evil thoughts, how about seeing an unknown sexy and beautiful naked lady with you alone in a room? Money is extremely important towards our living society that will bring joy, happiness, health, friends and family togetherness.

Until you have a million dollars, which you have earned fairly through your talent and not more than 10 percent dumb luck, it is the pursuit of happiness; after which, it is the root of all evil.

The pursuit of money is a never-ending downward spiral. The avaricious or insecure person will never have enough money, and it gets worse...
The more money you have, the more suspicious you become of the people "handling" your money.
Happiness is a state of mind that has no relation to money. Once your basic needs are satisfied (food, shelter) anyone can be happy.
