This reminds me of a blog I recently ran across from last winter - "Hungry for a Month." A fellow decided to try to eat for 30 days on only 1 dollar per day. He broke down the experiment with daily blog entries. It was an interesting read. I decided to try to figure a budget for eating with the same stipulations, and I ended up with a bit more food and a nicer variety, but I'm a woman and I can cook. And I know how to look for sales. ;)

30 is a lot easier than 5 though. You'd really be starving if you had to live on 5 dollars a month in America.

$5.00 ? It would be around Rp. 50.000 (fifty thousand rupiah) here in Indonesia. And I can tell you this ..... No Way you can survive for a month ! wait a minute ... not even a week !
But if i must answer the question ... hmmm ... that would be buying a lot of plastic bags, and start a new career as a garbage man (i dunno wat this "profession" shud be call) and looking for any kind of plastic materials to be recycled and earn some more money from that. So, instead of $5.00, you can increase you capital within a couple of days to $8.00, therefore you can survive for a month or even more if you find this career to be promising, prospectus for your future :P

A phone call to my family.... If I only had five dollars to make it through a month -- it's apparent I am going to die of starvation, can't pay the rent or utilities leaves me homeless and without proper medical attention... losing the car and no job.... oh gawd ----

I think I would have to spend it to call my family and tell them how much I love them, cause I know I won't be seeing them ever again!

Five bucks don't go far at all in this world and certainly without a doubt would NOT last one month!!
