In itself definitely not. And what do you mean by 'save our souls' ? Save from what? Gods wrath? Only you can save your soul by thinking and feeling free. Worship your ego and worship your life, for you are the only god that is.

from boredom, which is one of the major reasons mankind stoops to doing stupid things, yes, it can save us. if you mean guarantee entry to heaven, i doubt even the church can manage that.
