the guy in the apartment below me is smoking cigars. I have wall A.C units. The one I don't use much is the one where I think I get some cigar oder through. Is there a way I can use the A.C. fan as an exhaust system and just blow it right back out ? I'm affraid if I use the fan I'll suck the smell in. The only vents I see are the the ones that direct the flow of air inside. It's bad on humid days. Hardley noticable on dry days but i want to see if this works before I complain to him. I doubt he'd do anything anyway.

Complain to the owner. You don't have to put up with this.

Look to see if your A/C has a vent/recirculate selector. It most commonly is near the top of the unit by the grille. If that does not work, try soaking a towel in fabreeze and hang the towel over the front of the A/C (do not run with the towel in place).

expensive problem to fix for yourself. you need to pressurize your apartment by bringing in outside air, but when it is hot and humid outside you need enough A/C to compensate. Ask the guy if he could smoke outside.
