Housing is in very short supply in Moscow. the Russian economy is a shambles, and there is little opportunity outside of the capital. Everyone wants to come to Moscow, but space is at a premium. Now that the economy has been deregulated, the law of supply and demand has driven up the cost of housing.
Neither Moscow nor New York has the most expensive housing, however. That dubious honor is held by Tokyo.

What does Reagan have to do with Moscow being expensive to live in? The way I look at it is that that just like in the 80's when the dollar was stronger than most world currencies the Americans went abroad and exported the dollar overseas. Now that the dollar is weak it makes products and travel destinations here more appealing to the world. Learn some economics!

Bah that article is very very misleading. I know a gal who lives just a few miles from the Kremlin and she not wealthy at all. I know a few who live in Moscow matter of fact and none of them are rich. They are doing some creative stuff there to come up with that.
