The key word in your question is the "should" at the very end.
What "should" make people happy?
In reality, there are no definite answers to your question that would ever apply to all people. Happiness is one of those things that just happens naturally, like all human emotions.
It's also NEVER a permanent feeling. (like our culture, tv, advertisements) may suggest. In fact, nothing about life is permanent. It has always been a series of ebbs and flows... highs and lows.
I particularly find joy (perhaps a greater form of happiness) in knowing that I can feel all of these interesting things... A while ago I realized... Hey.. I'm THIS human, a being designed to feel things..
This may be going out on a limb... but perhaps if you let things happen naturally more often, you would feel more joy and happiness in your life. You may even be blocking happiness from entering your life by trying so hard to do what you (or others) think you "should" do to be "happy". This is just a hunch, my brother... ;) Best of luck on your life journey.
PS: Here's a quote that may help put things into perspective:
"Shared grief is half sorrow, shared happiness is double joy."
In other words.. Find some good people to share happiness with! They're probably in your life already and you just don't realize it.

Its may be b/c u r not interested in anything u have...its maybe b/c u just need to take a deep breath, go on a walk...keep ur mind out of thoughts for a few minutes...and just take a look at things around u, I feel the same sometimes, and what I usually do is, talk with a friend about random things or read a novel of my choice. Think that u have everything and u r still not appreciating or are happy with those things, but a person in other part of world, might be suffering without them. So just be glad that you them.

It is very simple:
Ask yourself "What is the key assumption that I make when I decide to pursue happiness?"
Don't know the answer?
The answer is:
The key assumption you make is that happiness is something that a person must achieve in the FUTURE....
So although you have gotten all the things you want, this core assumption is still ingrained in your mind "Happiness is to be achieved in the future." So you have a weird feeling of lack even though you might have everything...
Focus on the present, and the future will not come into the equation when it comes to feeling happy.

Your feelings are not necessarily bad ones, nor do I think you’re the only person to ponder this question. Wanting more is often what drives us to keep going after more when we have what we need, and is natural. This feeling of wanting more does need to be controlled some, but I think it can be used as a positive force. Make some goals, things you have never done and go after them!! Use this desire to broaden your horizons. Personal growth should never stop anyways. I think if you’re ever completely happy with EVERYTHING, you have just gotten lazy and tired! I have done and achived a lot but I not done or content yet!

It seems like people spend their whole lives searching for something better, never realizing that they may have already reached their goal. Try to think of the goal you have wanted in life. If you have reached it, be proud of yourself. Sometimes you haven't reached your goal, then you should try your hardest to reach it. If you think you have done as much as you can to reach it and still have not be thankful for what you have now and relax because it took you hard work to get there. Sometimes you have to just put a limit on things because working hard could make you stressed and unhappy and if you don't reach your goal in the end you will reeaallyy be unhappy. Hope this helps

A wise woman once told me that "Happiness comes from within, not from without." Meaning, all the things in the heavens and earth will not make you happy, and no other person can make you happy. You have the power to be happy you just have to choose it.

Key words "I have all things that SHOULD make someone happy" Sounds like to me you are living someone else's life. Seems like you've done all the thing's you're supposed to do in order to be happy. Yet you haven't done the things that will make YOU happy. The only way to solve this is to STOP caring what others think and DO what you truly always wanted to do.

well....not trying to sound mean, but maybe your just an over acheiver who will never be pleased no matter what...and those people tend to be really hard to get along with...so...my advice to you is lower your standards bar a little and give your self some credit and stop trying so hard to be number one...its really ok to let someone else get the glory once in a while...:)
