I'm not looking for the most expensive thing I could do and if it is possible I would like to be able to use the same hood with no modifications. I have quite a lot of room under the hood so I would like to know what my options are. If you can would you please include prices and companies that I could contact.

you can put a belt driven kit like a paxton under the hood but your crank shaft probably wont last long on a small block chev.

Not a good plan, dude. The '81 Vette (as did all GM vehicles at the time) had a pig engine and could barley wheeze to 100mph. I would opt for a crate 350 engine assy from Jasper and install an aftermarket fuel injection system. This is going to cost you about $5K but your Vette will have an honest 400+hp under the hood, can be driven daily and you will see a huge mileage increase. A supercharger installed on a worn, eighties-tech smog-engine will still cost you over $3,500.00 and you will never see the full potential of the blower until you have a performance block under it.

You may try speed shops in your area. You could also check with supercharger manufacturers and possibly download a set of installation instructions. Check with local Corvette Clubs, they most likely have a few supercharged cars around. good luck
