I'm say confidenence has more to do with self assurance, it's concerned inward. Whereas arroance has more to do with a feeling of superiority over others. An arrogant person will have a hard time admitting that someone else is better, a simply confident person wouldn't care.
Just my thoughts.

I think everyone is vain to some extent, but in excess it becomes a problem. Arrogance is best defined as it is always about you. You are the most important person in the room & everyone should just recognize that. It is very closed minded. Confidence, on the other hand, allows you to see that others have valuable imput that you may learn from, & you are not too threatened to see their point of view & actually consider it's value & truith . Many people who appear arrogrant on the outside are really just compensating for low self esteem & lack of confidence.

I ask myself that question everyday.
I have every right to be confident. I simply kick ass. Some people do have it all, and I'm one. I wouldn't say I'm vain though, because that's a fault and I currently do not have any.
Key word, CURRENTLY...We must always keep a level head. Compliments corrupt the giver as well as the reciever.
One day at any point in time it can all be taken away from you, so gratitude is much more important. That's why I'm perfect. I have everything everyone would ever want in everyway, and I'm thankful.

If one is Vain he is not OK even with himself. One one hand such a person will assume himself to be superior to everyone else and on the other look down upon others and even belittle others.
Living in a society its one of the "No's".And how many will accept such person and for how many days will they do so.It will be hurting.A point would reach wherein such attitude become unbearable and lead to hatred for that person.
Confident person will never be arrogant because he is sure of what he is saying and what he is doing.Hence would utilize his reasoning abilities and convincing arguments to drive home his point. But arrogance more often come out of nothing(hollowness). The only thing a person needs to be arrogant is a reckless mind, unreasonable logic and boastful words with least achievements.

I think being confident is believing in yourself. Being able to stand by your choices and your ability to accomplish your goals. Knowing you have faults, but not letting them control your actions. A confident person can take advise and use it to their advantage. Most importantly a confident person can admit they're wrong.
Arrogance is not having the ability to see any self faults. Believing they are always right and no one's opinion matters more than their own. An arrogant person stands by their choices even when they know it's not the best approach. I often find arrogant people are hard to get along with in a team setting. They also tend to put the blame of a failed attempt on others.

Arrogance leads to isolation. Arrogance breeds the thinking that the individual is better than others. This is not confidence. Confidence refers to one's abilities. Confidence, or self-confidence might better be described as a fearlessness in life. Someone who is confident is not nervous, or anxious, not easily embarrassed, or otherwise flustered in most situations.
The arrogant individual, however, assumes that they surpass others in some area -- looks, intelligence, wealth, etc. People, when arrogant, tend to be shunned by others. They tend to act disdainfully of others.
The arrogant individual is often not very confident at all.

They are entirely different. You can have confidence with good manners.Confidence is the quality you are having about something in which you have the requisite skill or knowledge.
Arrogance is about the manners in which you show out. In can come with confidence or over confidence but could also be without any confidence. You can be arrogant without any good virtues and manners.

it is not okay to be vain. vanity is essentially disregard for others or downright ignorance about others' feelings. confidence is positive and arrogance is negative. if a person wanted to scale a 100 foot cliff and was eager to do so, she would be confident. if she was laughing and peeing on the people below her, she would be arrogant about her confidence or lack of fear of heights...right?

Vanity. The world itself explains negativity. It is arrogance in a confident level and confidence in arrogant manner. They are actually existing within one root, indeed correlative, though are extremes depending on the way they are used.

I agree with Just1Panda.
Everyone is vain to some extent. Arrogance simply has to do with the situation that you're in.
