Global warming is for real and is part of the earth's natural cycle. The earth has gone through many "warmings" and "ice ages" in it's long history. The last ice age was a relatively short one. The debate that is at hand is whether how we are living is accelerating earth's natural cycle. A volcano lets off more greenhouse gases in one eruption that humans can ever imagine to let out. It is difficult to study what exactly causes global warming. There are advantages to it and disadvantages. For those who love a green earth, you love global warming because there is more CO2 in the atmosphere, which promotes healthy plant life. The warming does melt the continental glaciers, but any really interested in science knows that they will not melt away. Global warming then allows us more farming land to feed the world. It does have it's downsides as well. The water temperature is affected and can thus affect the life of animals in the water. The earth's average temperature is actually declining in the past decade. It did raise a bit before that, but I think we are jumping a little late at this. It is important to read data presented by unbiased science, which is hard to find, but if you are truly interested you will find it. Good luck and remember that Al Gore is not a scientist and was awarded by those who are not. I would love to hear how your research went. Remember to search for true science and not something that was put out because of a lobbiest or an extremest group. You will then be reassured that you are safe, but that you need to be careful with mother earth.

Global warming is the "greenhouse effect" in action.
Carbon dioxide is a "greenhouse" gas because it allows light from the sun to strike the earth, but when the earth reflects infrared light up towards space, the carbon dioxide reflects it down again, just like the panes of glass in a greenhouse.
This process traps more heat on the surface of the earth the more carbon dioxide is present in the atmosphere. More carbon dioxide = higher global average temperature.

Global warming is the theory that human pollution is destroying the ozone, which is letting in just a little more heat each year. This tiny amount of heat is thought to be enough to melt the ice caps and greatly effect our weather. However, according to scientists, the earth has been getting progressively warmer since the beginning of time. Remember the Ice Age? That melted without the help of human pollution.

Yes, global warming is definitely for real. Nobody disputes that. What I think you mean to ask is, is global warming caused by people? That is what the global warming debate is about.

yes it is for real!!!!!! who ever told u i didn't. global warming is alot of stuff. for example the polar ice caps are melting, the pollution from cars making the heat of the sun's ray trap on earth so it's getting hotter, the ocean rising, strange weather. in other word, the stuff that happened in "The After Tomorrow". but that is not all, there is alot more stuff.so much that it would take a long time to write.

global warming is for real. it's the increase in average temperature of earth's near surface air, caused mainly by human activities. it brings about climate changes, which affects the following:
1) ecological system
2) sea level rise
3) crops and food supply
to know more, you can go to leonardo dicaprio's eco-site. it'll tell you a lot about what's happening to the environment and what you can do to help mother earth! :)

Its when the ice melts in the polar area and the world gets hotter. If that was the most serioud threat to us we would have about a few centuries.
