How old do you have to be to work at B&N and Borders. I've asked and at one b&n the employee said 16, at another they said 18.

both times I asked at barnes and nobles, but I havent had a chance to ask at borders.

and in B&N website, they said that they hire at 18 but respect the law that your able to work.
really want to know if they do.

It depends on the state laws. Many states have age limits as to how late 16 year-olds can work. Since the hours available might be later hours, the manager might be only looking for 18 year-olds.
Another consideration is what type job. Those requiring the use of power equipment (including pallet jacks) require the operator to be 18 or older for liability reasons.

At borders it is 18 years old because of the graphic novels and stuff that they sell there. I know this becasue I applied for a job there but they said that I was too young and you had to be 18.

I'm pretty sure it's 16.
