How do I create a full disk image of my Macintosh HD to a external HD?

How do I create a full disk image of my Macintosh HD to a external HD?
I want all files on the disk image to be accessible for both read and write function.

Please help me out.

goto mac support website and ask the mac geeks that question they are the ones to ask............

Look for some third party software to do this. I'm sure there's a number of them. Leopard will be out in October with Time Machine. You won't need any other backup solutions then.
