My parents were Republicans; I am a Libertarian. First, I don't understand how someone who identifies himself as conservative could vote Republican. Second, I don't understand how one could articulate a position that is for less government except as regards social issues.

My father was strictly conservative, and my mother ..middle of the road.
My father and I used to watch Rush a lot until I started researching things, that he stated, that didn't quite sound logical.
When i started noticing the facts displayed in ways created a sound argument that implied an untruthful premise, i Started to speak up and draw attention to that.
Got sick of the arguments with my father stopped watching Rush with him, and eventually stopped even wanting to have anything to do with someone, that can't see beyond partisan bickering and the lies of propaganda.

So i became a centrist that researches everything i am told by political blabber mouths, and vote on what will make things better for the majority.

I do!

My parents are born again Republicans--or at least they were, than bush happened. I think it was because i realised early that i wanted to help people, not hurt them. That everyone is equal and that everyone should be treated that way--american or not--and that i should have the same rights as my sibling and cousins and parents. That everyone deserves the right to food and health care and a future without UV rays being everywhere and New York now being the next Atlantis.

My parents are libs. I think we disagree because they don't know enough about the radical Islamic terror in every corner of this earth. Also, I traveled much more than they ever did and lived abroad and I've seen things that Americans who don't travel haven't.

My parents are believers in big government, lots of handouts and government subsidies, free prescription drugs, free healthcare...pretty much free everything. But that's because they're old and retired. When they were younger and worked, they were conservatives. Go figure.

My parents were very conservative...I'm more of centralist. I believe that people should be able to live the way they want to not based on what the religous right wants.
