I was caught driving without insurance in California. I purchased the insurance and showed it to the court, then paid the fine. Is driving without insurance considered a criminal offense and will it show up on my criminal record? Please help me answering this. Thank you so much in advance.

Driving without insurance is not a misdemeanor, it is an infraction. (Veh. Code section 16028, 16029.) It thus will show on your DMV record (although I do not believe it is a point against your license), but probably would not be reported to CII, the central criminal index.

Driving without insurance is a Misdemeanor criminal offense. If insurance is purchased after the ticket was issued the Judge may order the drivers license to be suspended.

If a criminal background check were run by a prospective employer it would be disclosed to them; however, unless you were being hired for a driving job they will probably ignore it.

No, it's a traffic violation. But it will show on your driving record which some employers check.
