Why is the above statement grammatically incorrect?

"I don't know a thing about English grammar". I do know that the computer adds a question mark in Yahoo Answers.
I also know that "anything" makes little sense in the sentence. Not knowing anything is like knowing everything. Hmmm!

you mean "I don't know anything about English grammar" is supposed to be the statement? then just remove the question mark (?) and the sentence would be grammatically correct.

First of all, because the "e" in the word english is capatalized, and the last punctuation mark is incorrect because you are not asking a question...you're making a statement.

You have both a question mark and a period.

Otherwise the statement is fine.

Had you said "I don't know nothing about English grammar." then you would have been guilty of a double negative.
