I'm just curious to know if there are any anime fans out there over 30 years old like myself. I feel like I am the only one out there that is a big fan of anime.

I am.(Well I'm 40 now) I have enjoyed Anime for years. I started watching it when I was in my early teens with a show called "Kimba: The White Lion". Then of cores there was "Speed Racer" but as I grew up I stared to watch more adult show like "Devil Man" "Cowboy Bebop" and "Angel Cop". I think that American cartoon could take a lesson from Anime.

While I am well over 30, the only current Anime I can even tolerate is Ghost In the Shell. I truly can't understand the other stuff that is out. While I am not fond of it, and often trash it, it is to each their own...

I am, and no I'm not telling how much, but let's just say I can remember when Speed Racer was on for the first time...and it's hard to find people to talk with about anime except younger people--one of the young men of my acquaintance thinks it's "so cool" he knows a grandmother who likes anime...I'm a very young grandmother!

Age: 44 and counting.

I've always had a fascination with Japanese culture (my father was held in a Japanese concentration camp in Indonesia in World War II), and have been watching anime since Speed Racer was shown here in the late '60s to early '70s.

I decrease my anime tooth on the likes of "conflict of the Planets", "Starblazers" and "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" (not understanding on the time their country of beginning or the quantity to which that they were, oh, say "Americanized"). Later i found "Robotech" (by utilizing that element I knew slightly approximately anime and manga, and became rapid to earnings that the three element "chapters" of the saga were, merely before their being edited jointly, 3 thoroughly distinctive sequence), which grew to grow to be one among my popular television shows whilst i became fourteen or fifteen. by utilizing the time i became eighteen I had found manga, and a 300 and sixty 5 days or so later—whilst "Akira" became first released regionally; i think of that i became approximately nineteen on the time—i began out gathering anime because it grew to grow to be obtainable (on VHS; a single one or 2-episode tape in many circumstances value as much as $40 in those days, yet even a fan on a modest funds—jointly with myself—could take care of to pay for to purchase each and every identify that got here out in a month—which I did—whether he'd never heard of it; i offered distinctive crappy anime that way). and that i think of that I attended my first Anime Expo—i've got averaged a prepare a 300 and sixty 5 days because of the fact that then—whilst i became your age. besides, the element is, I extremely have a protracted historic past the place anime and manga fandom is worried. It is going back exceedingly much as much as now as i will undergo in concepts, consciously. a minimum of because of the fact that i became in kindergarten. i'm 40 years previous now and that i've got not any plans to renounce watching or examining any time quickly. the effortless actuality is that anime, like each and every animation or for that rely manga and comics (or in case you like, image novels) is merely yet in a distinctive way of telling a narrative, not extra advantageous or worse than stay-action. At this is ultimate, that is extra advantageous than lots of the different video clips available. At that is worst...nicely, as I suggested, i've got considered distinctive undesirable anime. yet then i've got considered distinctive undesirable stay-action video clips and tv, too. the substantial element is, watch what you relish. not what society SAYS you are going to be watching. If that element is anime, so be it (lots of my fellow followers are lots youthful than i'm, partly because of the fact anime and manga weren't very mainstream as quickly as I have been given into the fandom, so there have been not many folk around on the time).
