The government's response to terrorism has decreased human rights! I can't believe the prior response believes the ACLU are criminals! Funny thing is that most people who are in support of the Patriot Act have not be adversely affected by it... but they are the first to whine when they are...

I think that 9/11 was a pretense to push through legislation that gave the Government unprecedented powers to invade the privacy of most citizens' lives.

Granted, it has worked a few times, but mostly when used against criminals rather than terrorists.

Do I think the erosion of civil rights support the response (the anti-terrorism laws), thus making it valid? My answer is "No".

That's why Congress is increasingly shy about allowing the legislation to contine without deadlines and sunset dates.

After all what's to stop the government from spying on Congress in the name of fighting terror. Answer: absolutely nothing. Which is why Congress doesn't like this.

I believe that this whole "we've lost our rights" hysteria is way overblown. What rights? Nobody ever names a right, they just say we've lost them.

And if you're concerned about being "watched", you should be less concerned about Bush and more concerned about the millions of dollars worth of cameras being installed by cities throughout this country.

No I don't, the stories about Americans some how "losing" their rights is completely wrong. We are fighting a war, in every war we have fought we have done all we can to fight, no different in this one.

As long as you aren't a criminal you really don't care. The ACLU and the other criminals of the world are so fearful...
