how effective is it on the bikini area and does it hurt

I have one. I love it. it hurts more at first but after awhile you really dont feel much. You can do it at your own pace so if you pull a few and that hurts to omuch take a break for a bit.
I camn never go bakc ot shaving after epilating
its just so much better

Anything that pulls out hairs by the roots is going to hurt...a lot. You can minimize discomfort by rubbing an ice cube on the area beforehand.

I used an "epliady" many moons ago and it was horrible. You have to wait until your hair grows out to 1/4" or more before the device will even grab the hair then it hurts like crap once it's pulled out.
