Where are I/O psychologists typically employed? I tried searching Monster.com for I/O without any luck. I heard some go into management positions - what are these, and are they profitable?

What's the starting income pay? How's the work environment? Is a master's degree in I/O psychology all you need? Serious answers only... thanks in advance.

From what I understand when I was in graduate school, many I/O psychologists had on the job training. You have to have a Ph.D., but I/O psychologist often get jobs in business doing work in the Human Resources division. There are some consulting firms of psychologists and I would think they would hire I/O people. They were involved in hiring and terminating people in high positions. They develop tests and ways to evaluate people for positions and they are involved in training people. There was a lot of travel involved. One person in graduate school I heard of was doing work on a ship. Good luck, it is probably the most profitable area of psychology.

many are employed in university settings; however, this typically requires a doctoral degree and is self-limiting because there are relatively few i/o departments.
