It is described to be infinate. So, I am not even close to being a Steven Hawking type person although he is a good read,
Perhaps black holes are the beginning and end that wraps into itself.?...

I know! The concept of an 'infinite' universe is so amazing and confusing! That means infinite chance that there is life out there...there just has to be!
Scientists actually think there was a beginning to the universe...the Big Bang. A random unexplainable 'explosion' that resulted in the ever-expanding universe that we live in today.
The amazing thing is that a Supernova (sun blowing up) will occur in around 6 billion years. That means that in 6 billion years earth will be obliterated...there will be no evidence that earth has ever existed! INCREDIBLE!
The way we are stuffing up the environment prob means that humanity...at least...will end long before 6 billion years is up!
