Ouch! Umm, I'm trying to picture that myself, trying to figure out how you even got a good hold on it's ears! But don't do that!
Just pick them up under their tummy, then hold them gently against you and they'll usually stop squirming. I've never had a guinea pig bite me. Hamster once, but never a guinea pig...it's just not their nature. They're really fun and sweet when they calm down. My 4 yr old plays with his all the time and it lives in his room.

Like any other 4 legged, one hand under the chest, the other hand under the butt. I wouldn't have kicked you out, but shown you the best way. How would you feel about being picked up by your ears? Some very small, baby bunnies can be picked up by the ears, but it's still painful. I suggest you stay out of that shop for a while.

Guinea Pigs rarely bite and their ears are too tiny to pick them up with..

you just scoop them up from under neath..

alot of people are still thinking its ok to pick kittens up by the scruff of the neck because thats how mom cats do it - but really mom cats dont have hands or other ways to pick up their kittens... always pick pets up from under neath...

Pick them up from the sides and belly so that they don't freak out. Hold them against your chest so that if you were to lay down, they would be sitting on you. Have ne had on their bottom, the other on their back. Be firm, but gentle.

lol, my friends piggie lets people hold him like a baby, but don't try it!

If you are afraid that it will bite you than don't pick it up. You pick it up under its belly and hold it carefully so it won't jump out of your hands.

One hand over its shoulders and the other scoops up its butt. Don't pick anything up by the ears (and I doubt you are serious about this).

don't pick them up by the ears!! i always cup my hand around their stomach and pick them up gently, using your other hand to support their body safely. that makes them feel safe and they won't freak out on you. who the hell told you to pick them up by the ears?!?!
